While many clients enjoy browsing Freelancentral and calling freelancers themselves, the feedback we've had is that sometimes they'd prefer to advertise their requirement, or get us to recommend and find someone for them. So to make it even easier to harness SA's creative talent, on 1 June Freelancentral will launch two new services to compliment our portfolios: Projects and Placements. Read on about this below, or better still, come and find out more at our Gauteng Get-together on Thursday 24 May, if you're in the area.

FREELANCENTRAL LAUNCHES PROJECTS AND PLACEMENTS

The 3 Ps of freelancing:
Portfolios. Projects. Placements.

Yes, Freelancentral is branching out! In response to client demand we are launching two new services on 1 June 2007:

  • Clients can advertise their finite scope, fixed budget Projects on the site (and either manage responses themselves or get us to do it for them).
  • Clients needing freelancers to work in-house can use our Placements service to hire freelancers on a day-rate basis.

With just under 1,500 freelancers listed on Freelancentral, we're sure to have the right one for you. Contact Jo on 083 685 2955 to discuss your freelance needs.

There will be no change to our existing portfolios for clients who prefer to contact freelancers directly.

CHRISTINE ONLINE: Making online word of mouth work for you

Last month Christine looked at search engine optimization as a method of getting your site noticed online and driving more visitors to it from search engines. Being found online in search engines is important, but to keep that presence you need to be part of the online conversation. This month Christine looks at how one steps into the world of Social Media to capitalize on word of mouth. How can you benefit from blogs, RSS feeds, social networks and more? Read on.

TRANSLATING YOUR WEBSITE: A worthwhile investment?

Is it worth translating your company's web site into a foreign language? The answer is yes if your business is not entirely focused on the South African market, as about a third of all internet users don't speak English. Low-budget online translations do much more harm than good, and often result in weird misinterpretations, says Freelancentral member Gisela Piercey, an experienced English-German translator. Read on for more.
