So how are your resolutions going? We break them too easily, so this year we've made a (long) list of goals we want to achieve instead. Keep an eye on our '007 newsletters to see how we do. And if you're in Cape Town on 23-26 February, do come and see our special exhibition of freelancers' work at Stand A8 at the Design Indaba.

On 27th December, we were thrilled to welcome our 1,000th member, Grant Pierrus. Around 100 freelancers are still signing up with Freelancentral every month, meaning that clients have a greater and greater pool of talented people to draw on.

As our 1,000th member, Grant wins a free Full portfolio for a year, to promote his services in research, strategy, consulting, account handling and events. Grant is currently uploading his work and his portfolio will be online shortly.

FEATURE: Doo be doodle...

Freelancentral designer Trevor Paul has taken doodling to new heights. Over the course of two years of travelling, Trevor captured his thoughts in intricate visual detail in Moleskin journals. His exhibition 'Tales from the Shallow End' is currently running in Durban and he's featured in this month's Design Indaba magazine.

"Tales was a trusty companion that helped me through a very tough period in my life. I found that jotting random ideas, doodling and writing my thoughts in a journal developed into a growth process full of unexpected twists and turns, and still continues to be a huge inspiration to me, often giving my graphic design work steam in those uninspired tar pit moments we all know so well."

Be sure to wear sunscreen and a hat if you're outside this summer, and keep out of the sun between 11am and 3pm. Malignant melanoma is on the increase in 20- and 30-year olds. It's curable if detected early; fatal if ignored. See your dermatologist annually or if you notice a change in a mole. Click here for more information.

Comduit, the technical team behind Freelancentral, noticed that many of you do not have sexy email addresses and wondered why.

There's really no excuse: an email address like joeblogs@telkomsa.net doesn't do much for your freelancer cred. So, for friends of Freelancentral (you), Comduit are offering personal email addresses for R20 per month. This discounted offer is valid until the end of February 2007.
