Getting paid without hassles
We've had several members contact Freelancentral HQ over the last couple of weeks looking for advice about how to handle non-paying clients.
So what can you do to make sure that you get paid what you are owed, when it's due? We've compiled this list of 'best practices' to help and guide you.

Running your own small business?
Business Warriors is a fantastic resource and community site for entrepreneurs and small business owners, Members have access to invaluable training materials and information, as well as the wealth of knowledge, experience and general support of the other members.
Freelancentral's founder, Jo Duxbury, recently signed up and says 'Business Warriors is a great way to get word out about Freelancentral and to bounce ideas off other small business owners. It's a very supportive community and in three weeks I have learnt some several very valuable and practical business tips. I'd say anyone running a small business, especially on their own, should give it a go.'

Do you want to catch the eye of the 20,000 expected visitors at the 2007 Design Indaba Expo in Cape Town next March?

1. Be featured in our November newsletter
Our November newsletter is going focus on our members' success stories. Tell us about interesting work you've done recently for your clients and you could be featured. Ideally we're looking for stories about work you've got through Freelancentral, but all stories will be considered. It's really motivating for other members to hear how well your freelancing is going - and great exposure for you as our newsletter goes to clients too!

2. Showcase your work
Do you want to show off some freelance work that you're really proud of? Whether it's an article you had published, a website that launched, a brochure you designed or anything else, tell us about it! Send us 250 words and at least one JPEG or link and we'll include it on the Freelancentral homepage and newsletter. This is a great opportunity to promote yourself - and your work - over and above your Freelancentral listing... and it's free!
3. Tell us what's going on
Are you involved in an event that you think other freelancers or even clients will be interested in? Exhibitions, concerts, even fundraisers... Send us some information about it and we'll include it on the home page for free. A great way to get some extra publicity, to meet other freelancers and help create a freelancer community.
